MajesticGroove Entertainment™
Founder/CEO - Darrell W. Butler - biography

Born in North Carolina and raised in New Jersey, Darrell's number one desire has
always been to entertain. He began writing stories and "rap songs" at the age of 8. Many of his early songs were crafted around beats made famous by the likes of
Run DMC and LL Cool J. Granted most
of the songs were about cartoons and cereal but still, these early song parodies
provided valuable experience in developing tight hooks and lyrical structure.
One track,
SPAM (a parody of the song SLAM by Onyx) even garnered him a letter of
appreciation from Dave Fox, the programming director at New York’s WHTZ (Z100)
FM. Another track, Earth Day Hooray
(based on Naughty By Nature’s Hip-Hop Hooray) earned him top honors and a
performance slot at the Monmouth County (NJ) Environmental Summit while his
recording of “Whoomp…Chuck E. Cheese” (based on Tag Team’s
“Whoomp…There it is”) was picked up for use by the aforementioned
company’s promotional videos.
While these
were obviously great accomplishments for someone so young, Darrell’s real desire was to tell his own
stories, not someone else’s; so it was around this time that he began to
branch off from parodies into developing original tracks.
His first
music group, The Royal FamiLee, enjoyed some minor success earning them local
performance slots, radio airplay and independent label interest; but due to
creative differences, the group split up before they fully reached their
potential.
Since going
solo however, MajesticGroove has picked up right where The Royal FamiLee left
off.
In
2001 he won the MTV/Fat Tuesday’s rap battle in Cancun, Mexico.
Later that year he served as a first-round judge for the Independent
Music Awards.
From 2001-2004, Darrell also served as writer/editor for The Musician's Atlas.
In 2002 his "Eagles Anthem" was played during NFL games for The Philadelphia Eagles.
In 2003, The Wrigley’s Corporation awarded him with a paid contract to help launch their new Winterfresh Thin Ice Strips product through a nationally aired radio jingle. He was also invited to once again judge the 2003 Independent Music Awards.
In 2006, the song Lip Smack was featured in the successful Independant film, The Tree Behind The Church.
Darrell is also an accomplished actor
and voiceover artist. His first major break came as the Host of NJN's
Meeting of the Minds. He also was a featured performer in 3 popular NJ
based comedy/improv troupes, Improv Jam, Sketchcapades and Possible Side
Effects. In 2002 the International Modeling and Talent Association named
him “Talent of the Year” at their awards show in Los Angeles. His writing
and film work behind the camera have also garnered him numer
Despite his many creative talents and diversified performance history, Darrell
is probably best known for his diet destroying culinary creation,
Ironically, Darrell is also a certified personal trainer via the American Council on Exercise (ACE). He also holds certificates in strength training and nutrition to go along with his degrees in Journalism and Psychology obtained at Rutgers University in only 3 years!
Darrell created MajesticGroove Entertainment™ in 2000 (prior to that year the company operated under several other names) to serve as an outlet for creative expression through various media. Current projects include music, film, television, animation, licensing and publishing.
While the company is ever evolving and continues to grow, one constant will always remain certain and that is the fact that Darrell's number one desire will forever be to entertain and captivate the world.
